Hong Kong International Airport just got better - free Wi-Fi access!! I was so obsessed with writing the last couple of blog entries in SF that I forgot to check an old email to copy down a couple of important contact numbers I needed when I arrive in Beijing. What a relief to have free Wi-Fi now. Last year when I was here I thought it was primitive that this airport did not already have Wi-Fi access.
SF-HK flight was uneventful in a good way. I sat next to this Indian guy - did not say a word to each other the entire 14 hours (I'm to blame as I generally do not like small-talk chit-chats in these types of circumstances). He slept most of the time and did not once get out of his seat. The movie selections were pretty good but I only watched one movie (The Painted Veil). Most of the time was spent snoozing and some reading. Plane was jam-packed. Memories of last year's trip to Tibet came back: Greg and Ryan running around with bags of hippie-snacks, Dustin (just-)sitting for the entire Chicago-HK flight, walking up and down the aisle visiting each other - that was the shortest plane-ride I've ever had. Not like this one.
Random quote (from movie): "When love and duty becomes one, that is when grace is present."
Random observation: Three Australian ladies chatting away to my right, a Chinese family sitting three rows behind having an animated discussion about breakfast food (I think) at airports, a huge ad board right in front of me saying "5 minutes walk from here to SkyPlaza" with 119 stores to kill time/money: "Burger King, BONIA, Vi Vi Shop, SKYphoto, X quisit, swatch, Himalaya, ArnoldPalmer, Artisan Angkor and more."
And of course, Starbucks.
